Why Android – Pie
Overview
In 2019, Android OS released the 9th version of it’s Operating System (OS) called Pie. This was the second course in an Android OS series designed to train Bell, Virgin Mobile and The Source retail employees about the new features available in this release.
- Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning Development
- Target Audience: Front-line employees in Bell Mobility, Virgin Mobile and The Source retail stores
- Tools Used: Articulate Storyline, Adobe Creative Cloud
- Learning Management System: Axonify Learning Platform
- Year: 2019
Instructional Design
I researched the new features of the Android OS release and determined the business goals for the training. I wrote the learning objectives to outline what I wanted learners to know after completing the module and sourced content from the Android Pie website to support them.
Because we used Axonify as an LMS, the course was developed as a microlearning module and the assessment consisted of multiple choice/multiple answer or matching questions to provide a summative assessment for the topic as well as questions for the platform to use for spaced repetition and reinforcement. The assessment questions were designed to reveal whether learners had achieved the learning objectives.
eLearning Development
I used Articulate Storyline to develop the module. Our learners were encouraged to use the Axonify app on their smartphones to complete their daily training so the module was developed in mobile dimensions.
I designed all of the images using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, sourcing icons and images specific to the Android release from the web.
